Age 9.  Every summer from I think age 5 to 15, I would go visit my Grandparents at their beach house in Long Beach, New Jersey.  It would normally be around the 4th of July and we would often light sprinklers.  This picture was taken at Fantasy Island amusement park.  I thought that dinosaur was so cool.  I also was wearing my Sailor Moon shirt (my favorite thing back then, I was obsessed.)  I loved going to that beach house and eating fudge and taffy in the sun.  If my Grandmother was still with us I would trade in a year of my life for a single day lying next to her in the sand.

Age 18.  Working in the box office at the California Theatre.  We showed “A Clockwork Orange” because the Act 1&2 had just closed.  I was very excited to dress up and drink milk!  We didn’t have a big crowd and that night was sort of a let down.

Age 16.  I had just finished working at Spirit Halloween Superstore.  At the end of the season we had a box of discarded masks, costumes, cookies and props.  I wound up lugging home a huge box of Halloween junk including a Captain Spaulding mask and this alien dress!  Of course I put it on and wandered around my home asking “where am I?”

Age 16.  Went to Wonder Con in San Francisco with my ex boyfriend Jake.  Was so excited to meet Sid Haig and he was the nicest ever!  I hate my stupid hair and my dumb lip ring.  I vouched after this convention I would never go to another one and have not been since.

Remembering Ben Putman

Ben burned me a c.d called “Ben’s Rock N Roll Mix.”  I learned about a lot of music through that one c.d.  I will post songs from it often (I think there are something like 21 songs.)  Here is track 1.

Age 19.  Lisa and I drove from Berkeley to Los Angeles just to go see “The Dark Backward” at the Hollywood Arclight.  We were surprised when they had special surprise guests like “hobo Judd Nelson!”  I drove Lisa insane on the drive down by playing the song “Bad Day” everytime it showed up on xm radio and then fell asleep on the drive home that very same night!

Age 16.  Wondercon SF 2004.  Was so excited to meet Harvey Pekar.  When he made eye contact I felt like his eyes killed my soul.   He was exactly how I imagined he would be and that terrified me.  Please take note of my terrible hair, Alice in Wonderland purse and crazy puppet shirt.

Age 11.  I was a Spice Girls fan.  I had an orange lunchbox purse that I had covered in stickers.  This was one of the few times I wore my hair up.  Also I had convinced myself I was wearing fashionable capris and not ugly jean shorts.

I always thought I was normal.  You break up with someone and then you do clown makeup and take pictures of yourself crying.  Wait you don’t?

Age 6.  Sleepover with my best friend Parvin at my Dad’s apartment in Jamaica Plain. I don’t remember that apartment well but I do remember there was a shared garden.  I remember eating blueberries and mint and being amazed that it just grew out of the ground.  In this picture Parvin and I are enjoying my “Lion King” comforter (my favorite movie for years) and my Dad’s “Billy Bologna” puppet.  About five minutes before this picture was taken Parvin and I were enjoying baby bottle pops.
